Kent Center, Inc. receives financial support from a variety of sources. Our primary funding source is the State of Maryland / Department of Health & Mental Hygiene / Developmental Disabilities Administration. We also receive financial support from the Kent County Government, from the Department of Education / Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) and from the United Way of Kent County. In addition to these funding sources, we generate income through work contracts and through our thrift store - Hidden Treasures, located in Kent Plaza Shopping Center in Chestertown. We receive additional income for our Residential Programs by charging room and board fees to the individuals receiving our services.
Kent Center welcomes donations and fundraising ideas from our community supporters. Support from local civic groups, businesses and citizens has been a mainstay throughout our thirty-four year history in Kent County. We are counting on this support as we launch a major capital campaign in order to build a new community services facility in Chestertown. Kent Center has acquired 2.89 acres of land on Scheeler Road in Chestertown. Our goal for that location is to build a new 22,000 square foot center for day services, medical adult day care and/or retirement options, meeting facilities and administrative offices. In order to realize our goal, we need to secure four million dollars in funding. We have secured $2,200,000 thus far through grants and fundraising.
Are you interested in helping us with our campaign to raise the funds for a new community center for people with disabilities? Do know of someone who has the time and expertise to assist us in our fundraising efforts? If the answer is yes, please contact Carol D. Callaway, Executive Director at 410-778-7303
Please send tax deductible donations to our Building Fund to Kent Center, Inc. 903 Washington Ave. Suite 4 Chestertown, MD 21620.
